First Steps

I've never been one to keep a daily journal (though I've tried), I've never been one to share thoughts and experiences to a large audience, and I've never been one to blog  - so this online endeavor will test the boundaries of my personality in many aspects.

First, I am going to embark on an adventure that tests time - a journey perhaps through landscape, history, and artistry.

Second, I'll record my findings, share my photos, and my thoughts here (online, for everyone to see).

This past spring I received a grant to retrace my family's artistic history in Europe. I'll weave my way from city to city looking for clues to my Great Grandfathers career as a folk art collector and textile manufacturer. This research expedition will help me prepare designs and ideas for my future artwork.

Those who know of my project have been incredibly supportive in helping me find places to go and people to talk to (for this I am so grateful). I know this adventure will be funny, sad, scary, exciting, nerve-wracking, and entirely wholesome.  I'm looking forward to sharing my experience with everyone who is willing and able to follow where I am and where I'll be in the upcoming weeks.
